At the doors I’ve been knocking on across the district, I continue to hear that affordability is the top concern for families. Whether it’s property taxes, housing, utilities, or everyday costs, too many people are feeling the squeeze. I’ve worked on these issues and will continue fighting to make it easier to afford to live and stay in our communities.
Where I Stand
Wisconsin currently has no statewide framework for data centers, leaving local governments to navigate trillion-dollar tech companies on their own. I believe we need a real solution that reflects concerns I’ve heard in community meetings across the district. That includes protecting ratepayers from rising utility costs, ensuring responsible water use, safeguarding our environment, addressing noise and light pollution, setting clear labor standards, and banning nondisclosure agreements that keep the public in the dark. I am ready to support real, enforceable standards that protect Wisconsinites.
I remain focused on building a fairer tax system that is not overly reliant on property taxes to fund local services. I have supported efforts to provide property tax relief and strengthen programs like the Homestead Credit to help seniors and working families stay in their homes. My goal is a system that is more balanced, more predictable, and less likely to price people out of the communities they’ve built their lives in.
I believe it is important to support our first responders and ensure our communities are safe. I have authored legislation to create fire districts to strengthen and improve fire service across Wisconsin. I have also worked on a small agency police grant program to help local police departments and sheriff’s offices send recruits to the police academy. I will continue working to ensure our first responders have the resources they need to keep our communities safe.
I am proud to serve on the Assembly Committee on Agriculture and to support Wisconsin’s farm economy. I was an early supporter of the Agricultural Roads Improvement Program, to help improve rural infrastructure and lower costs for producers. I have also supported right to repair protections to ensure farmers can maintain and repair their own equipment. I’ve fought for a Dairy Cattle Innovation Program, expanding value-added grant programs, and strengthening support for Made in Wisconsin agricultural products to grow new markets for producers. I will continue working to deliver real results for Wisconsin agriculture and our rural communities.
I spent six years on the Beloit City Council and saw firsthand how state policies can limit the ability of local elected officials to do their jobs. I have been a champion of rolling back unnecessary state laws that take away local control and shift decision-making away from communities. I will continue working to reduce burdensome state regulations and ensure local elected officials have the authority to make decisions for their own communities.
Serving on the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections has shown me there is significant work to do to improve confidence in our elections and strengthen election administration. I have authored legislation to allow clerks to begin processing absentee ballots earlier, without counting them, so results can be reported more quickly and efficiently. I have also supported efforts to strengthen campaign finance laws to reduce undue influence and ensure our elections are protected from special interest spending. Additional priorities include ending state legislative gerrymandering before the next redistricting cycle and supporting the National Popular Vote Compact so that the candidate who receives the most votes becomes President.
I have authored legislation to ensure state legislators are held to the same record retention standards as other government employees. Currently, legislators are allowed to delete certain records, which is wrong and undermines public trust. I also support stronger transparency requirements so that groups spending money in Wisconsin politics must fully disclose their donors. Voters deserve to know who is funding efforts to influence public policy and elections, and political spending should be held to clear and consistent disclosure standards.
I strongly support public education and want to ensure it thrives in Wisconsin. One of the biggest challenges facing our schools is the state's failure to adequately fund special education, forcing districts to rely on local property taxpayers and increasingly turn to referenda to meet basic needs. Increasing the special education reimbursement rate would provide meaningful relief to school districts and taxpayers alike. For too long, state leaders have fallen short of their responsibility to support public schools. I will continue fighting for investments that strengthen public education and set our students up for success.
